Learning to live joyously together....

A FEELING lasts about 45 seconds and is then released. An EMOTION, on the other hand, is a feeling with a story attached to it, and boy... that emotion can last for as long as you keep feeding that story without letting go (that's how people stay angry at someone or something for 20, 30, sometimes 40 years.. oy!).
Raise your awareness to the difference between a feeling and an emotion the moment it occurs, and let go of the story and emotional drama before it grabs a hold of you.
I never realized that I had this amazing control - I can actually determine whether I am happy or not. It  isn't what it is. It is what I want it to be. What a unique way to live our lives. It's hard starting over and changing those old paradigms, but when you do, happiness takes over more often than not. Yes, I do remember my dear mama holding hurts for years. Those same hurts are now embedded in my psyche and only I can remove them. Yes, the journey is extremely difficult, but worth it in the long run. Peace and joy to you today! Remember, baby steps....
